sierra-detailFor the Vocalist, Instrumental Performer and Composer

An important part of the OvreArts mission includes providing advanced education and mentorship to young, aspiring composers and performers within the region.  Our goal is to put these talented, aspiring individuals in direct contact with professionals working in the field.  As a result, and thanks to the hard work and inspiration of our Music Director, Ryan Keeling, we have created a unique weekend workshop program that will take place annually.  Each year, the workshop will take place in early October and will focus on a different aspect of Contemporary Performance Music.  While this years focus is on Composition for the Voice and Contemporary Vocal Performance Techniques, next year will focus on the young, aspiring conductor and the hurdles in working with contemporary composers and compositions.

This first workshop will take place on October 11 and 12, 2013 at the Mt. Lebanon United Methodist Church.  Designed to give young, aspiring composers, singers, and instrumentalists an opportunity to increase their knowledge of and skill in working with contemporary vocal compositions, the workshop lasts for two days and includes a series of focused classes, lectures, one-on-one lessons and performer/composer workshops.  The workshop also extends a hands-on, step-by-step Publishing assistance program for the duration of the year (2013) to all workshop attendees.

Workshop Topics include:

  • Contemporary Compositional Techniques for Solo Voice
  • Choir and Small Ensembles, Vocal Performance Techniques
